An honest Christian life is messy. There’s you in all your sin, and problems, and not okay-ness, and Jesus is working in you, taking over more and more areas of your life. It is a process, and it can be slow, but accepting this works a whole lot better than just trying to hold your breath and act like you’ve got it all together.

Every good and perfect thing comes from above, coming down from the Father of Lights.

I’ve read the last page of the Bible. It’s all going to turn out all right.

Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.

Ever since the beginning of my life as a Christian I’ve ask God to trim whatever needs to go, to shape whatever needs shaped, mold me and shape me, God. I want to look like You, I don’t want to look like me, I want to look like You. I want to have Your ears, I want to have Your eyes, I want to have Your heart, God, I want to see people like You see them, ‘cause You’re amazing. So He does it, still. I read the word and I’m like, “Aw, wow, that’s awesome, thanks Dad.
